Final step

Finally, this what i create for my poster, i paste my previous symbol at the bottom left.

step 10

At this step i put my statement by using the type tool with a font name almonte snow.I use the glow effect and some of the alphabet i resize it to the size that i like.

step 9

During this step i create the penguin using the pencil tool and fill it with black, white and orange that i select from the swatches. As you can see there are various size of penguin that i create in my poster, i create it by duplicating one of the penguin and i resize it to a size of my desire using the selection tool. Then some of the penguin i transform and reflect it horizontally.

step 8

At this stage, to make the shadow of the big ice berg i use the pen tool and fill it with blue and i less the opacity to 41. Then to make the small ice berg at the back i duplicate it from my previous assignment 2 and paste it. i resize it using the selection tool and less the opacity to 70. The other small ice berg i create by using the pen tool and to make the shadow i use the pen tool and use the eye dropper tool to fill the color the same as the other ice berg shadow color.

step 7

To make the water,i choose the rectangle tool and arrange it send it to backward and i fill it with a mix of color light blue and a bit of dark blue by using the gradient box.

step 6

Again i use the pen tool to create the stick and fill it with brown and white color, then i arrange it send it to back.

step 5

To make the second layer of the ice berg i use the pen tool and as usual i adjust it using the convert anchor point tool and fill it with a mixture of color light blue and black. i mix the color by using the gradient box.

step 4

After that to make the top layer of the ice berg i use the pen tool and adjust it with the convert anchor point tool. Then i fill it with white and little bit of light blue by using the gradient.

step 3

Thirdly, to make the glove i use the pencil tool then i fill it with a very light brown. To make the leg, i again use the pencil tool and fill it with the light green. Then to make the show, i use the pencil tool and fill it with the same color that i use to fill the glove that is the very light brown.

step 2

Secondly to make the shirt i use the pen tool and adjust it using the convert anchor point tool so that it will look better then i use the selection tool and arrange it send to back and i fill it with the same color that i use for the snow cap.

step 1

Firstly, i choose the ellipse tool to make the snow cap and i fill it with green color and i adjust it using the gradient. Then to make the face i duplicate the snow cap and resize it using the selection tool and fill it with a skin color that i adjust from the swatches using the color guide box. To make the sad eyes, i again use the ellipse tools and place it on the right position, and to make the black spot i duplicate the sad eye and resize it to a smaller size using the selection tool and fill it with black color. Then to make the eye lid, i use the pen tool and adjust it using the convert anchor point and fill it with the same skin color that i use to fill the face. To make the sad mouth i use the pencil tool with a stroke of 2.

Brief description and sketch

The above picture is my sketch. It is just a simple sketch, but ill try to make it better by using the illustrator.

Objective of assignment 3
Global warming is affecting many parts of the world. It makes the sea rise due to the melting of the ice cap,and when the sea rises, the water covers many low land islands. This is a big problem for many of the plants, animals, and people on islands. The water covers the plants and causes some of them to die. When they die, the animals lose a source of food, along with their habitat. Although animals have a better ability to adapt to what happens than plants do, they may die also. When the plants and animals die, people lose two sources of food, plant food and animal food. They may also lose their homes. As a result, they would also have to leave the area or die. This would be called a break in the food chain, or a chain reaction, one thing happening that leads to another and so on.

My Statement :
Stop Melting The Ice Cap Save The World

Definition of my statement :
As you all know the global warming are affect of pollution. Due to my statement, stop melting the ice means that, people should be more responsible and stop creating pollution because this might cause the melting of the ice cap and make the water level of the sea rises, the number of penguins reduce, and people may lost their source of food. In order to save the world as i said before, people can help to reduce the pollution by not doing open burning, less use of vehicles and use friendly product. Lastly, don't let the world drown.

How Global Warming Effect the Environment[http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/1848/global.html]
One of the most current and widely discussed factor which could lead to the ultimate end of existence of Earth and man is global warming and its devastating effects. Scientists have asked how fast the Earth is heating up, and how the warming effects on Earth may effect crops and climatic conditions. Several current trends clearly demonstrate that global warming is directly impacting on; rising sea levels, the melting of icecaps, and significant worldwide climatic changes. This paper will discuss the degree of destruction caused by global warming, contributing factors to warming, and finally, discuss what we can do to decrease the current rate of global warming. I would also like to present opposing viewpoints to the effects of the warming process. In my understanding, global warming represents a fundamental threat to all living things on earth.
Effect Of Global Warming[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effects_of_global_warming]
The predicted effects of global warming on the environment and for human life are numerous and varied. It is generally difficult to attribute specific natural phenomena to long-term causes, but some effects of recent climate change may already be occurring. Raising sea levels, glacier retreat, Arctic shrinkage, and altered patterns of agriculture are cited as direct consequences, but predictions for secondary and regional effects include extreme weather events, an expansion of tropical diseases, changes in the timing of seasonal patterns in ecosystems, and drastic economic impact. Concerns have led to political activism advocating proposals to mitigate, eliminate, or adapt to it.

The 2007 Fourth Assessment Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) includes a summary of the expected effects.

Meaning of my illustration

As the ice caps started to melts due to the overheating on the earth and also action from the wind and waves it created iceberg. That is why I create an iceberg as my design illustration. The illustration that I create is to show the effects of icecaps melting that cause to create iceberg which also cause the rise of water level or even draught to xthe earth due to the overheating on the earth. As for the color, I choose blue to show the water from the melting of iceberg. The navy blue is to show the sky during the night. For the iceberg and cloud I choose white color and the grey color is to show the shadow.

Final step

Lastly i did some touch up by using the paint brush tool making the black line and i add a little bit of different color to the sky by adjusting it using the gradient. After that i put my previous symbol on the right hand side bottom.

step 7

Than to make the shadow i use the pen tools. The color for the shadow i use the eye dropper tools.

step 6

To make the small iceberg i again use the pen tool and fill it with white color.Than i use the paint brush tool to make it look more like an iceberg.

step 5

After that i put the shadows by using the pen tools and color it using the eye dropper tool and adjust the color using the gradient.

step 4

To make the iceberg i use the pen tool and fill it with white color. To make the shadow of the iceberg i also use the pen tool then use the eye dropper tool to pick the right color. I adjust the color using the gradient.

Step 3

Thirdly, to make the shadow i copy the white cloud and paste it and overlap it.I resize the copy of the cloud and fill it with light grey color.

step 2

Secondly,to make the cloud I again use the pen tool and to make the curve by using the convert anchor point tool and i fill it with white color. The cloud on the right hand side i copy and paste it from the left hand side cloud which was the first cloud that i created. I reflect the cloud and place to the right position.

Step 1

Firstly I need to create the sea, so to create the sea I use the pen tool to make the line. The value of the stroke is 5. The curve that I make is by using the convert anchor point tool. Than i fill it with light blue color that i selected from the swatches. After that to make the sky I use the rectangle tool and i fill it with dark blue and arrange it by sending it to backward so the it does not overlap the light blue.

MY SKETCH

The picture above is my sketch. This sketch is created by collecting some ideas from my picture reference below.

This is some of my picture reference to give me idea to draw the iceberg.

My 1st reference

My 2nd reference

What is Iceberg?

An iceberg is a large piece of freshwater ice that has broken off from a snow-formed glacier or ice shelf and is floating in open water. Most icebergs are found in the ocean, but are all composed with fresh water, not frozen sea water, since a glacier is frozen snow. Icebergs are white, blue, or green and sometimes even black due to rock materials that were first in the glacier and ended in the sea because of the iceberg. Icebergs can decrease in size because when an iceberg is exposed to heat, like, all other ice, it melts. Icebergs can last at least 10 years, but now the green house effect is causing them to melt a lot faster.

Cause
The are several ways that can cause iceberg to form or calve such as action from wind and waves, the ice shelf grows too large to support part of itself or a collision with an older iceberg.

Meaning of my symbol

The Bulb
The bulb represent the meaning of heat, heat is cause by the carbon dioxide that has increased over the years and because of that it caused a build up of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere known as greenhouse effect, that is the cause of melting of the ice caps. Other than that the bulb is also to symbolize as an idea,so this is why i choose a bulb to take attention from the society to think of more idea to prevent the melting of ice caps.

The Ice Cube
I choose a picture of ice cube melting is to symbolize the melting of ice caps that is happening now and than on the earth.

The Seven Lines
The seven lines above the bulb represent the seven continent of the earth,to take action as soon as possible to decrease the melting of ice caps.

Shape
Why i choose oval shape for the bulb?
The reason why i choose oval shape for the bulb is because according to my research oval shape are smooth looking and simple and it matches my symbol representing for the melting of ice caps which is simple.

Colour
Why is the bulb in orange and yellow colour?
According to the research i've made, this is why i choose orange and yellow colour.
ORANGE :
1.To human orange is a very hot colour.Orange is the best stimulant and help in times of depression, loneliness, and boredom - on the whole it is the best emotional stimulant.
2.The orange energy helps bring out this joy and bring out confidence and independence,it also helps people clear things up.
YELLOW :
1. Yellow produce warming effect.
BLUE :
1. Blue can be represent as two things, the ice and the water.

Lines
Why the seven lines?
The seven lines above the bulb represent the seven continent of the earth,to take action as soon as possible to decrease the melting of ice caps.

Final Step

Lastly, to make the oval shape look more like a bulb i'll put the seven line above the oval shape by using the line segment tool using a stroke size 4pt.

Step 4

To make the cube more like ice melting, i make a splash of water at the bottom of the cube again by using the pencil tool and fill the splash of water with dark or light blue that are call radial gradient 3 by choosing it at the swatches. After that to make the drop of water, again i use the pencil tool arrange it according to my picture and fill it with light blue.

Step 3

The third step is, to make the cube looks like melting or to look like an ice cube melting i use the wrap tool, and than to fill the cube with blue colour to look like an ice i use the pencil tool

Step 2

Secondly, to make the cube I use the line segment tool by arranging it in order and resizing it using the selection tool. For the cube i use a stroke size 2pt.

Step 1

Here it go.Firstly to make the oval shape to represent the bulb,
i use the ellipse tools. Than I resize the bulb by using the selection tool by clicking on the oval shape. Than i fill the bulb with orange and yellow colour to symbolize as heat that is produce by a bulb by selecting the colour at the swatches on the right side.Than i made the bottom part of the bulb which represent the screw by using the rounded rectangle tool and again i resize and arrange it in order by using the selection tool.As the screw, i use a stroke at size 2pt with white fill.

My Sketch

Here are the rough sketch of my main idea of ice melting of the ice caps.
Which are one causes of global warming. The symbol that i turn up with after collecting ideas from the research and references that i have done.
As what i have stated before in the other post:

The Bulb
The bulb represent the meaning of heat
that is the cause of melting of the ice caps.

My research and references

How does ice melt?

Here are some of my research and references on how ice melt that I search in the internet.

The water molecules in ice are more strongly attached to each other than they are when the ice is melted.
That is why ice is a solid. As the ice warms up, the heat makes the molecules jiggle around more and more.
When it is warm enough, the molecules cannot stay stuck to each other like they did when they were ice.
It is when they break away from each other that melting happens.

Here are some of the pictures that I collect an idea from to use:

The above picture is picture of ice cube melting. I choose a picture of ice cube melting is to symbolize the melting of ice caps that is happening now and than on the earth.

The above picture is a picture of a bulb that I choose to represent

the meaning of heat that is the cause of ice melting.
Other than that,
I choose a bulb is because usually a bulb is symbolize as an idea.
So this is why I choose a bulb, to show to the society to think of an idea
on how to decrease the rate of the melting of ice caps.

COLOURS

Orange Color

Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.

To the human eye, orange is a very hot color, so it gives the sensation of heat. Nevertheless, orange is not as aggressive as red. Orange increases oxygen supply to the brain, produces an invigorating effect, and stimulates mental activity. It is highly accepted among young people. As a citrus color, orange is associated with healthy food and stimulates appetite. Orange is the color of fall and harvest. In heraldry, orange is symbolic of strength and endurance.

Orange has very high visibility, so you can use it to catch attention and highlight the most important elements of your design. Orange is very effective for promoting food products and toys.

Dark orange can mean deceit and distrust.
Red-orange corresponds to desire, sexual passion, pleasure, domination, aggression, and thirst for action.
Gold evokes the feeling of prestige. The meaning of gold is illumination, wisdom, and wealth. Gold often symbolizes high quality.

Yellow Color

Yellow is the color of sunshine. It's associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy.

Yellow produces a warming effect, arouses cheerfulness, stimulates mental activity, and generates muscle energy. Yellow is often associated with food. Bright, pure yellow is an attention getter, which is the reason taxicabs are painted this color. When overused, yellow may have a disturbing effect; it is known that babies cry more in yellow rooms. Yellow is seen before other colors when placed against black; this combination is often used to issue a warning. In heraldry, yellow indicates honor and loyalty. Later the meaning of yellow was connected with cowardice.

Use yellow to evoke pleasant, cheerful feelings. You can choose yellow to promote children's products and items related to leisure. Yellow is very effective for attracting attention, so use it to highlight the most important elements of your design. Men usually perceive yellow as a very lighthearted, 'childish' color, so it is not recommended to use yellow when selling prestigious, expensive products to men – nobody will buy a yellow business suit or a yellow Mercedes. Yellow is an unstable and spontaneous color, so avoid using yellow if you want to suggest stability and safety. Light yellow tends to disappear into white, so it usually needs a dark color to highlight it. Shades of yellow are visually unappealing because they loose cheerfulness and become dingy.

Dull (dingy) yellow represents caution, decay, sickness, and jealousy.
Light yellow is associated with intellect, freshness, and joy.

What is Global Warming?

Global warming is the increase in the average measured temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-twentieth century, and its projected continuation.

The average global air temperature near the Earth's surface increased 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the hundred years ending in 2005.[1] The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes "most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-twentieth century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (man-made) greenhouse gas concentrations" via an enhanced greenhouse effect. Natural phenomena such as solar variation combined with volcanoes probably had a small warming effect from pre-industrial times to 1950 and a small cooling effect from 1950 onward.

These basic conclusions have been endorsed by at least thirty scientific societies and academies of science, including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries. While individual scientists have voiced disagreement with some findings of the IPCC, the overwhelming majority of scientists working on climate change agree with the IPCC's main conclusions.

Climate model projections summarized by the IPCC indicate that average global surface temperature will likely rise a further 1.1 to 6.4 °C (2.0 to 11.5 °F) during the twenty-first century. This range of values results from the use of differing scenarios of future greenhouse gas emissions as well as models with differing climate sensitivity. Although most studies focus on the period up to 2100, warming and sea level rise are expected to continue for more than a thousand years even if greenhouse gas levels are stabilized. The delay in reaching equilibrium is a result of the large heat capacity of the oceans.

Increasing global temperature is expected to cause sea level to rise, an increase in the intensity of extreme weather events, and significant changes to the amount and pattern of precipitation. Other expected effects of global warming include changes in agricultural yields, modifications of trade routes, glacier retreat, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vectors.

Remaining scientific uncertainties include the amount of warming expected in the future, and how warming and related changes will vary from region to region around the globe. Most national governments have signed and ratified the Kyoto Protocol aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but there is ongoing political and public debate worldwide regarding what, if any, action should be taken to reduce or reverse future warming or to adapt to its expected consequences.
